Gordon Brown: Super hero or Socialist villain?

Posted by: Charles Barwell on

So Gordon Brown is being cast as a superhero and saviour of our financial system. Good grief, what short memories we must all have. Granted, Brown may have put together a package that should enable trust to be restored to the banking system. But he has also put our economic freedom into jeopardy and threatens us with a resurgence of socialism.

None of us should ever forget that this is the man whose complete incompetence as Chancellor is illustrated by the disastrous decision to sell the UK gold reserves, costing Britain more than £2¼ billion with the gold price now up by 199%. He is the man who destroyed the pensions of almost all of us who work in the private sector by taxing the investment income on pension funds - a fact that seems to be lost on third time lucky Peter Mandelson whose government and EU protected pension is nothing other than a disgrace.

Gordon Brown is the man who extravagance and profligacy saw government spending soar, so that the British national debt is now £1.3 trillion, which is more than the whole country generates in earnings in a single year.

And Brown is the man who strangled small businesses, hard working families, home buyers, and anyone who drives a car, by his relentlessly higher taxes and unregulated wasteful spending.

Is Brown a superhero? Heck no, he's been a total disaster.
