Charles Barwell elected as a Vice-President of the National Convention

Board Election Candidates

Candidates for the Party Board: Charles Barwell, Richard Robinson, Emma Pidding and Jeremy Middleton

At the National Convention meeting held before Spring Forum in Nottingham, senior Conservatives elected me as the new Vice-President of the Convention, joining Emma Pidding and Jeremy Middleton who were resoundingly re-elected to the Party Board.

I have to admit to be a little daunted by the prospect of serving the Party in a position of such responsibility, but I am enormously grateful for the trust that members have shown in me. I am really looking forward to working with and for members of the Party from across the land.

The Chairman of the Convention, Don Porter, has asked me to take up particular responsibility for four regions. So I shall be focussing on the North East, on Yorkshire and Humberside, the South West, and on the West Midlands. With so many key target seats in these regions, I have a major task ahead, but am really looking forward to the challenge. I hope that my experience of business and political campaigning will enable me to make a really positive contribution to the Board at a time when we anticipate the possibility of a major change in the political landscape of Britain.

I'm really grateful to all those who have helped me in my campaign over the past six weeks, particularly Vicky Ford, Louise Best, Craig Cox, Jack Lopresti, James Barwell, and others too numerous to mention, but you know who you are.
